Era Istrefi was born on 4 July 1994 in Pristina (Kosovo) 1. His mother, Suzana Tahirsylaj, is a Serbian singer of the 1980s and 1990s. Her father, Nezir Istrefi, is a journalist. After the death of his father in 2004, his mother leaves his career in entertainment. His sister, Nora Istrefi, is also a singer.

In 2013, when she was 19 years old, Era Istrefi made her debut in her homeland with Mani pere money, finally released in the gueugue version with sentences in English2,3. That same year, Era Istrefi declared himself an activist for LGBT2 rights. A few months later, she built her notoriety with the release of her new single, A Po Don ?, promoted with a video clip4. His third single E Dehun - inspired by the song of the same name by Nexhmije Pagarusha - arouses controversy for having shot his clip in the Serbian Orthodox Church that was burned by Albanians in 20045. After the release of E Dehun, Era Istrefi receives three awards at the VideoFest Awards, including the best revelation5. In December 2014, the singer released pop ballad 136, whose clip is viewed almost 200,000 times in the first twenty-four hours on YouTube5,7. Since 2016, she holds Albanian citizenship8.
